“As the author of The Most Crucial Knots to Know and The Motivated Amateur’s Guide to Winter Camping, I pay attention to how outdoor systems are set up, and the base at Silver Mountain Resort is one of the smoother ski setups around. From the moment you pull into the paved parking lot, everything is close and easy to understand. Ticketing sits right across from parking, and the gondola loads in the same area, so you’re not wandering around in ski boots trying to figure things out. Multiple ticket windows help keep things moving. There’s a ski shop at the base where you can grab gear or anything you forgot. The whole area has that small mountain town feel, which adds to the experience without overcomplicating it. The gondola ride up is part of the day. It’s a steady, scenic climb that transitions you from town to the mountain in a way that feels built into the experience rather than just a lift. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, whether it’s tickets, questions, or general guidance. As the author of The Grant Colson Thriller Series and SERA Archives thriller novels, I notice when a place gets the logistics right. Here, everything is laid out so you can focus on the mountain instead of the process. It’s a clean, efficient base area that makes starting the day simple and keeps the momentum going.”

“We came to Silver Mountain on Jackass Day. Boy was it busy. Food at the top of the gondola was barely passable. In total we got 3 orders of fries. The first was perfectly cooked, the 2nd & 3rd were under done and hardly edible. Chili and soup were below average. Lift prices were affordable, since they were reduced for the day. We bought Waterpark passes online before we came, but not enough. Same day purchases were $15 more than the online purchases. It was a decent day, but I feel a bit taken advantage of due the the high same day rates.”

“We enjoyed our stay! We had a 1 bedroom condo with two dogs, no issues accommodating them and there is a designated area for them to use the bathroom. The water park was great. Nice and warm and staff seemed friendly. Our room was great, though counters and tv stands seemed like they needed a dusting/wipe. The phone in our room didn’t work so I would have to go to the lobby or call with my cell for questions. We did have to put previous guests dishes away out of the dishwasher. Not sure if that’s normal here but new to me. Parking was limited at night as they’re remodeling and dumpsters are taking up a few spots. Along with the pack and play that was rented, for $18 a night I just wish it was in better condition. Otherwise we would love to come back! It was great and I think would make for a good stop in the future again”

“Overall this is a great little skiing/tubing/mountain biking/golf/indoor waterpark resort. There are lots of empty retail/restaurant spaces in the village though that I wish were filled. The resort is clean, offers spacious accommodations, one restaurant/bar, a tiny pizza shop, fro-yo spot with a very limited menu, small coffee shop, gift shop, donut shop, and sporting goods retail space. None of the places mentioned are open past 7/8pm which was a bit upsetting. The indoor waterpark is great with lots of options for any age range. The gondola ride up to the mountain to ski and tube was awesome! We also enjoyed the hot tubs in the evening. The town of Kellogg is tiny but there are a few local restaurants and a grocery store. We took a week long family trip with our children for spring break, rented the two room condo which had two king size bedrooms, one large kitchen, dining room table, small living room with a full size pull out couch, gas fireplace, two bathrooms, and two small balconies. We got wristband passes for the water park every day, went tubing one day, rode the gondola, and explored a local gold mine. Overall we spent around $5,000 after everything including meals and groceries for five days for our family of six. Good value and fun little spring break trip for four nights/five days.”

“We had an amazing time in 2024/2025 ski season. Spent whole 2 weeks at Kellogg, chilling and snowboarding. We travel without a car so it was challenging, but doable (can't erase Spokane out of my head). Beautiful trails, groomed and wide. Not a lot of people. Incredible gondola experience and the story behind the resort. I'll recommend it to everyone. And if you want to attract more car-free tourists you should consider creating a shuttle service from Spokane airport, it would help a lot. Even if it's not free.”

“It was genuinely so much fun for the whole family. We ended up not skiing, but we took the gondola and that was fun, and the fact that the water park was included with the hotel was so cool. It was so fun for the parents and our 3-year-old. It was a great time have not had that much fun in so long.We are going to make it a yearly tradition. The only thing I would change about the trip is, I would stay longer!”

“Great mountain with fun terrain. Silver never fails to put a smile on your face. This has been a challenging year but Silver staff have overcome adversity to make the best of things. Today was an epic day. Thanks Silver! Pleased to renew my pass for the 26th time.”
